Dinosaur siblings Danny and Lily discover that their talents shine in different ways — and that they shine the most when they work together. Through a warm, engaging story designed for read-alouds, children explore big feelings like frustration and comparison, practice empathy, and build confidence as they see that differences aren't obstacles — they're strengths. Perfect for ages 4–8, ideal for bilingual families and for readers learning English or Spanish.
MY REVIEW
Danny sabe Leer- Danny Can Read is a wonderful book for bilingual children, who speak or are learning either language. Although texts can seem rather long, the vocabulary is easy and the fact Spanish or English versions are on the same page, can come in handy.
The book serves two purposes: the literacy and social emotional learning sides. It introduces children into the exciting world of words and the endless possibilities it can bring to a person's life. Children are shown into the process of learning to read and write in a very subtle and enjoyable way. They can also discover everyone learns at a different pace or has a different talent and that is perfectly normal.
Danny Sabe Leer -Danny Can Read deals with a wide range of social- emotional skills such as being different, managing jealousy and frustration, discovering talents, encouraging self- confidence, accepting limitations, daring to try new things or the benefits of team work.
As for the illustrations, dinosaurs can be very appealing to young readers, besides, they are very colorful and friendly. I like the way the facial expression was handled, joy, interest, frustation or anger, they all look so human and can help children build on and handle their emotions.
I would say, it is a book that deserves reading and re reading either at home while sharing family time or in class as it allows teachers create lots of resources.
