A very tender story about children's imagination
Synopis:
Ella, as any child, wants to have fun and Lavender is her favourite partner.
A day full of playtime and the craziest adventures are waiting for them in the garden...
But Ella's mom has other plans.
Will Ella stay tidy for afternoon tea with mum and her friends?
What I like about the book:
This rhyming story is full of innocent child's play. Children's art of pretending and the power of imagination are what make the book entertaining from beginning to end! Even Mommy gets engaged and calls Ella: 'you two'.
Page after page, the amazingly, colorful illustrations are an invitation to playtime and fun. The story highlights the importance of outdoor games and contact with nature -playing with mud and water, climbing trees or observing animals.
The name of the elephant not only denotes its color, but also lavender flowers.
The face expressions which denote complicity between them and the sweetness from Ella to her friend will touch children's -and adults- hearts.
Ideas to work in class:
The story can be used
-to explore outdoor children's games -outside screens!-
-to talk about children's favourite games and add new ones.
-to talk about children's favourite toys -and friends-
-to learn-review vocabulary for children's games.
-to learn-review vocabulary for traditional indoor games -no screens!
-to learn-review vocabulary for elements from nature: water, ants, mud, trees. Others can be added like the sun, leaves, grass.
-to learn-review verbs from the story.
-to find rhyming pairs from the story. -check my resources-
If there is an open space, invite children to go out and play!! They need to connect with elements of nature and have fun.
